Avon Lake High School is located 18 miles west of Cleveland in Avon Lake, Ohio. The Instrumental Music Department serves more than 200 students, offering a variety of performing ensembles including Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Shoremen, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, String Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra.
The Avon Lake community and its schools take great pride in their music programs. The community is often recognized by NAMM as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the USA. The Avon Lake Band Aids, Inc. received Ohio's "Outstanding Music Support Group" award from the Ohio Music Education Association in 2016. The school district is recognized as Excellent with Distinction by the Ohio Department of Education and Avon Lake High School is nationally ranked by US News and World Report. The Avon Lake City Schools offer 5th and 6th grade band at Troy and 7th and 8th grade band at Learwood. There are 10 instrumental ensembles encompassing more than 500 students playing band instruments in the Avon Lake City Schools. The Avon Lake City Schools offer a full range of vocal, orchestra, and band educational and performance opportunities. |
